“There’ll be a lot of goals in this”
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has given his prediction for the FA Cup final clash between Manchester City and Chelsea to be held at the iconic Wembley Stadium on May 16 (Saturday).
Man City are fresh off a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the PL, while the London-based club come into the game after a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The club from Manchester is considered the favorite for the trophy ahead of the Blues due to their form.
Thanks for the submission!
The Cityzens are unbeaten in their last nine games, whereas their rivals from London come into the game after a draw against Liverpool and a 3-1 loss against Nottingham Forest.
Writing in his column for the Metro, Alan Shearer predicted the result for the clash between the 2 Premier League giants. He said:
“It is really interesting that City have lost the last two finals as favourites. I did the co-comms last year for that game when Palace beat them. Chelsea showed slight improvement last week against Liverpool despite going 1-0 down.
“I just think because of the mood that City are in, the belief and the confidence, they’ll edge it. I know that City still give you chances, even watching the game against Crystal Palace, they missed two or three really good chances. I think there’ll be a lot of goals in this, but I think Man City will edge it just.”
Manchester City star Rodri remains a doubt for the FA Cup final clash after he missed the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. Josko Gvardiol returned for the Cityzens, giving them a much-needed boost in defense. Chelsea will be helped by Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, and Robert Sanchez’s potential return to the squad after recent injury issues.
The Blues are winless against Manchester City in their last ten encounters, with the latest meeting being a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Cityzens at Stamford Bridge. The Blues did manage to get a 1-1 draw at The Etihad Stadium earlier in the season.
“Got the belief they can beat anyone” – Calum McFarlane on Chelsea squad ahead of Man City clash
Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final, Calum McFarlane highlighted what Chelsea have to do to get the better of Man City. He said (via Chelsea FC):
“The players have got the belief they can beat anyone – we just know that we have to be the best version of ourselves, said McFarlane.
“Manchester City are an exceptional side with an exceptional coach and exceptional players, so it’s going to be a challenge. But we also have really good players, and these players have shown that if they’re at their best, they can beat anyone.”
