The Blues want to halt City’s relentless march towards more silverware in what feels like a defining clash.
Chelsea have been inconsistent due to their defensive fragility throughout the season, but victory at Wembley would instantly transform the mood around Stamford Bridge.
Having already lifted the League Cup earlier this season, City are now chasing a domestic cup double for the second time under Pep Guardiola after previously achieving the feat in 2018/19.
The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown between these two Premier League behemoths.

City head into the final looking every inch the seasoned winners.
They have won 21 of their last 23 FA Cup matches, with their only defeats in that period coming in the last two finals against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.
Even more ominously for Chelsea, City have not lost to the Blues in any competition since the 2021 Champions League final under Thomas Tuchel.
Since that defeat in Porto, Guardiola’s men are unbeaten in 13 straight meetings against Chelsea, winning 10 and drawing three.
The most recent meeting underlined the gulf between the sides. City dismantled Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last month, with Jeremy Doku once again tormenting the Blues’ backline.
Doku could be decisive again at Wembley.
Across the last two FA Cup campaigns, no player has more goal involvements than the Belgian. He has bagged three goals and five assists while completing a remarkable 40 dribbles.
Chelsea will hope Cole Palmer can look inspired against his former club, while Enzo Fernandez has become their standout FA Cup performer this season.
The Argentine has six goal involvements in nine FA Cup appearances for the Blues and scored the decisive goal in the semi-final win over Leeds United.
There is also intrigue surrounding Erling Braut Haaland. Despite his extraordinary scoring numbers, the Norwegian has strangely gone nine finals without a goal for City.
Wembley has become an especially frustrating venue for him, with eight appearances and no goals there for City.
However, City’s attacking depth means they rarely rely on one player.

Chelsea’s route to the final has also raised questions. Four of their five wins came against lower-league opposition, with Leeds United the only top-flight side they eliminated.

The numbers make grim reading for Chelsea supporters.

Only Man City (16) have won more games at the new Wembley Stadium as a neutral venue than Chelsea (15) since it opened in 2007.
However, Chelsea’s recent Wembley record is concerning.
The last time they played a final there, the League Cup final against Liverpool in 2024, they became the first club to lose six domestic finals in a row (three League Cups, three FA Cups).
They have failed to score in each of their last four finals there since Christian Pulisic struck early against Arsenal in the 2020 FA Cup final, a game they still lost 2-1.
Team news
Chelsea’s Reece James and Levi Colwill are both in contention after returning to training this week.
Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto have also resumed training and could return in time for Wembley, while goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is pushing to recover from a head injury.
Rodri is expected to be ready for City despite missing several games, leaving Guardiola with a full squad to choose from.

Chelsea have a talented team, particularly in attack, but their defensive structure has looked shaky throughout the season, and they still appear vulnerable.
City are football’s ultimate winning machine under Guardiola. They are ruthless, composed and utterly comfortable on the biggest stages. That experience could prove decisive once again.
They look far better equipped to come out on top, and Chelsea’s fragile defence and mentality may leave them in the dust of Guardiola’s serial winners.
