Tottenham Hotspur have just been handed a major boost in their efforts to secure Marcos Senesi on a free transfer this summer.

With Cristian Romero being widely backed to leave Spurs this summer, the Lilywhites are unsurprisingly studying various options to reinforce the heart of their defence.

According to reports, Spurs have been in talks with Senesi’s representatives over a summer move to N17 as the 28-year-old edges closer to free agency.

In fact, some outlets have even claimed that the Bournemouth star has already agreed to join Tottenham this summer as long as Roberto De Zerbi’s men remain in the Premier League.

Bournemouth confirm Tottenham target Marcos Senesi’s exit

The Lilywhites have now received a big boost in their efforts to land the Argentine, whose time at the Vitality Stadium will come to an end this summer.

It appears that Andoni Iraola’s men have failed in their attempt to convince Senesi to sign a contract extension.

Bournemouth have now officially confirmed that they will be parting ways with the centre-back at the end of this season after spending four seasons in the South Coast.

Spurs still have work to do to win race for Senesi

Some outlets have said that Tottenham’s move for the Cherries defender can still be hijacked by other Premier League clubs.

Journalist Matteo Moretto revealed last week that Spurs may face competition from Liverpool and Chelsea for the Argentine defender.

Addressing the speculation over his future two weeks ago, Senesi insisted that he has not decided on his next club and remarked that he is open to offers from outside of England.
