All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Ousmane Diomande, Robin Roefs and Xabi Alonso.
Diomande approach made
Chelsea are one of several clubs to have approached the entourage of Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande, according to Flavio Costa.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a Premier League transfer for years. Diomande has an €80 million release clause, but it is claimed that Sporting are willing to consider offers in the region of €60m.
Chelsea, PSG and Bayern have held exploratory discussions with Diomande’s camp. The Blues are in the market for a centre-back and are long-standing admirers of the Sporting star.
Liverpool enter Roefs race
Liverpool have entered the race to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, CaughtOffside claims.
The Netherlands international has been a breakout star in the Premier League this term and has become the subject of transfer speculation after just one year at the Stadium of Light. Roefs has been touted as a potential signing for Chelsea.
Now, Liverpool are also believed to be in the mix to sign the 23-year-old as they look for a potential replacement for Alisson, who is open to a summer move to Juventus. It is claimed that Sunderland would listen to offers in the region of €40m.
Alonso latest
Xabi Alonso has greenlit his appointment as Chelsea’s new head coachand an official announcement is expected imminently.
The Spaniard has agreed a four-year contract after a meeting in London last week. Alonso was Chelsea’s top target throughout their entire coaching search since sacking Liam Rosenior in April.
One of his first orders of business will be to decide what to do with Nicolas Jackson, who remains highly rated but who is facing an uncertain future after a disappointing loan spell at Bayern.
Coulibaly deal possible
Werder Bremen director Clemens Fritz has confirmed that there is “movement” around Chelsea target Karim Coulibaly, but there have so far been no “concrete” offers.
The 18-year-old defender is expected to take the next step this summer, with Bremen dreaming of a club-record fee of around €50m. Chelsea and PSG have been mentioned as possible destinations.
Interestingly, Fritz also admitted to BILD that Coulibaly could be sold but remain at Bremen for another season. “It is a conceivable option for players of Karim’s age. I don’t want to rule it out entirely,” he said.
