Liam Rosenior gets new job less than three months after unwanted record led to Chelsea axe

Liam Rosenior has not been out of work for long with the ex-Chelsea boss heading back to France to secure work with Paris FC appointing him on a two year deal

Liam Rosenior is back in management less than three months after being axed by Chelsea with the 41-year-old confirmed as the new boss of Paris FC.

Rosenior has previously managed in France with Strasbourg before taking over at Stamford Bridge, but he was dismissed in the same season he was hired. He took over from Enzo Maresca but lasted less than four months, leaving in the midst of the Blues’ worst winless and goalless league run for 114 years.

He has quickly found work though and Rosenior will now take the reins from Antoine Kombouare at Paris FC, who finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season. That was Paris FC’s first in the French top flight in 46 years following their breakaway from Paris Saint-Germain in 1972.

The club’s sporting director Marco Neppe said: “Liam Rosenior brings together all the qualities we were looking for. He is a modern, demanding coach and recognised for his ability to help both the players and the team progress.

“Beyond his tactical skills, we were particularly attracted by his management qualities and ‌his ⁠ability to unite a group around a clear vision.”

Rosenior has signed a two-year contract with Paris FC and will seek to reignite his managerial career, which was firmly on the rise in Strasbourg, where he had continued to surpass expectations. Paris FC are owned predominantly by the family of French businessman Bernard Arnault, with energy drinks giant Red Bull holding a minority stake.

Chelsea’s current ownership have ploughed through managers, but their exploits in west London have not stopped them from landing major jobs. Thomas Tuchel became Bayern Munich boss after leaving the Blues and is now leading England’s World Cup charge.

Graham Potter, the first hire by Todd Boehly and co, was also at the major tournament with Sweden, as was Mauricio Pochettino. He led the hosts USA before their dreams were ended by Belgium in the last 16.

Maresca, moved on by Chelsea in January, has just been named as the man to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He previously served as an assistant at the Etihad and will now have his best shot at winning the Premier League as a manager.
