Now West Ham have to convince the defender to swap the Premier League for the Championship.
Regardless of how much he enjoyed his time at West Ham, that’s still going to be a difficult thing to do given his quality.
After all, his performances for West Ham will have undoubtedly attracted interest from other clubs competing at a higher level.
But it’s claimed West Ham have already promised Disasi a leadership role in the squad if he agrees to sign.

Several senior players are expected to leave this summer, so it makes sense to make a player of Disasi’s experience and quality a central figure in the squad.
Whether that will be enough to convince him to come back remains to be seen, but given he already knows the club, the manager and the squad, West Ham do still hold something of an advantage over other potential suitors.
What is clear, though, is that if West Ham manage to pull this deal off, it will be one of the biggest Championship deals in recent history.
Disasi is undoubtedly a top-quality centre-back who can play at international and Champions League level, so signing him in the Championship would be nothing less than a serious coup for the club and would further strengthen their promotion chances.
