Salah Would Only Return to Chelsea in England: Reports
Mohamed Salah has reportedly told close friends that a bid from Chelsea would be welcomed with open arms. It is interesting to note that the Egyptian star player is said to believe that Stamford Bridge is the only place in England he would ever consider going back to.
Salah’s successful time at Anfield was cut short too early, making him a free agent now facing an uncertain future. The gifted forward agreed to terminate his contract after nine years with Liverpool, ending a successful period that saw them win numerous trophies. He departs the club having scored an incredible 257 goals in 442 appearances, winning two league titles and the Champions League.
Salah’s first taste of England was with Chelsea in 2014, of course, but it was a far less fruitful experience. The Egyptian struggled to make his mark. He started just six Premier League games before being loaned to Fiorentina and then Roma, who eventually bought him. Returning would give the roaming winger a poetic chance to complete an unfinished story at the club where he made his Premier League debut.
It’s still unclear whether BlueCo is really interested in such a big acquisition, especially since the forward likely wants a lot of money. Salah has long been linked with a big-money switch to the Saudi Pro League, and MLS teams have also long been enquiring about his availability. Still, the words used to describe the way the Pharaohs’ captain is feeling suggest the door to a return to London hasn’t been totally closed.
