Tottenham are expected to face competition from Serie A side AS Roma in their pursuit of West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville.

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have not been afraid to do business over the last year, despite having gone well over a decade without transfer talks before that.

Last summer, Spurs poached one of the Hammers’ better players, Mohammed Kudus, and then repeated the same this transfer window with the signing of Mateus Fernandes.

The two deals have seen West Ham receive a whopping £140 million from Tottenham. Still, Spurs have been linked with Crysencio Summerville from east London as they look to bolster their attack.

Tottenham face Roma competition for Crysencio Summerville

Summerville is among several wide players Tottenham are understood to be monitoring alongside Rafael Leao, Cody Gakpo and Savinho.

The West Ham man could be available at a discount as he has a £40 million clause following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.

The Dutchman managed five goals and four assists in 31 games last season. However, Tottenham are now expected to face stiff competition, with AS Roma understood to have rekindled their interest in Summerville.

That is according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim that Roma are not giving up in their attempts to sign the West Ham winger this summer.

It is explained that the Serie A side has now reconnected with Summerville’s agent to discuss the feasibility of a deal that remains highly complex, but not impossible, following an hour-long meeting on 15 July.

Spurs could lose out as Roma step up pursuit

Summerville himself is open to a move from West Ham this summer, and it is explained that he wants to remain in top-tier football.

Roma have Champions League football to offer the wide man, and that could well sway his decision as he explores his options.

The Serie A side are not just looking to shop from one London club but also have their eyes on Chelsea’s Garnacho, and there is a possibility that Roma could line up next season with Garnacho and/or Moreira on the flanks – and even Summerville.
