Chelsea have received a concerning Emmanuel Emegha injury update after the striker suffered a hamstring problem during pre-season.
The summer signing is expected to miss the club’s overseas tour, although he should recover before the new Premier League campaign begins.
Emegha sustained the injury during Chelsea’s behind-closed-doors victory over Bromley at Cobham. The 23-year-old had scored before leaving the match and will now continue his rehabilitation in England.
The setback interrupts an encouraging start under Xabi Alonso. Emegha also found the net during Chelsea’s earlier 3-1 friendly win against Crawley Town.
Emmanuel Emegha injury update after Chelsea tour absence
BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella revealed on X that Emegha will probably miss the entire overseas tour. However, Chelsea expect him to return before their Premier League opener against Fulham.
The striker was not included in the group that travelled to Australia on Friday. ReadChelsea covered Emegha’s absence when the club announced its initial touring squad.
Emegha joined Chelsea this summer after the Blues agreed his move from Strasbourg in September 2025. He scored eight times during an injury-disrupted final season in France before reporting for Alonso’s opening training programme.
His absence gives Liam Delap and João Pedro further opportunities during the five-match tour. Nicolas Jackson could also rejoin the group following his extended break after the World Cup.
Chelsea will avoid rushing Emegha back after his fitness problems last season. Nevertheless, the current Emmanuel Emegha injury update suggests he should still be available when competitive football returns in August.
