All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Anthony Gordon, Trevoh Chalobah and Joao Pedro.
Romano confirms Gordon move is likely
Anthony Gordon is expected to leave Newcastle this summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The England winger has been associated with a move away from the Magpies for several weeks, amid strong interest from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and, most recently, Chelsea. Some reports have suggested that Newcastle could demand north of €90m for the 25-year-old.
“Another name to watch is Anthony Gordon. He has very serious chances of leaving Newcastle United in the summer transfer window,” Romano says. “Much will depend on the price tag set by Newcastle. However, according to my information, there is a strong possibility that Gordon will leave.”
Chalobah talks opened
Chelsea have opened talks with Trevoh Chalobah over a contract extension, Nicolo Schira reports.
The one-cap England international has two years remaining on his current deal, plus there is an option to extend it by a further season. However, Chelsea are ready to hand him improved terms.
This is a remarkable U-turn from the club’s previous stance. Chelsea were trying to get rid of the academy graduate in both of the last two summer windows, and there was an expectation that they would try again this year.
His consistent performances this season, though, appear to have given him a good chance of remaining with his boyhood club for the foreseeable future.
Pedro to cost €100m
Chelsea have made it clear that a sale of Joao Pedro will only be entertained if an offer of €100 million is put on the table, as per ESPN Brazil.
The summer signing has recently attracted the interest of Barcelona, who are believed to be exploring a move for the Brazilian as a cheaper alternative to Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
However, Chelsea have no intention of parting with Pedro after just 12 months and have issued a firm hands-off warning to any potential suitors. Signing Pedro would require an eye-watering outlay this summer.
Chelsea have not given up on Enzo
Chelsea will look to reopen contract discussions with Enzo Fernandez after the conclusion of the season, the Daily Mail claims.
The Argentine has hit the headlines in recent weeks with his comments on moving to the Spanish capital amid interest from Real Madrid. Fernandez is thought to be exploring his options after contract discussions with Chelsea yielded no satisfactory results earlier this season.
Chelsea suspended Fernandez after his public statements, but they remain reluctant to sanction his exit, given his importance to the team. Accordingly, they are seeking rapprochement and will hold fresh contract talks with him this summer.
Fabregas keen on Arsenal?
Como head coach Cesc Fabregas may not be interested in the vacant Chelsea job, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol states.
He has had it suggested to him that the long-term plan for Fabregas is to take over at Arsenal eventually. The Spaniard played for both the Gunners and Chelsea during his lengthy Premier League career.
“Cesc Fabregas, what I’ve been told, there’s some kind of suggestion that long-term, the plan for him is to manage Arsenal one day. I’m not sure moving to Chelsea would be part of his career progression,” Solhekol said.
