Joao Pedro Transfer Stance Revealed As La Liga Giants Make ‘Informal’ Contact With Chelsea Ace

Barcelona have had “informal contacts” with Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, according to reports.

ESPN Brazil claim that the La Liga giants see the 24-year-old as a “cheaper” alternative to Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

However, Pedro’s valuation is still likely to be close to €100m (£87m), and the player himself is said to be “focused” on playing for Chelsea.

The Brazilian international isn’t even thinking about a potential move, less than twelve months after arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Would Chelsea consider selling the striker?

Any official approach from Barca is expected to be given short shrift, with the Blues believing that there is no better player on the market who fits Pedro’s profile and price bracket.

Since moving from Brighton for £60m last year, he has made a very good impression, scoring 22 goals and providing 9 assists in 49 appearances.

It means Pedro is currently averaging a goal contribution every 1.58 matches or every 113 minutes.

Pedro has been one of the few successes from last summer

The Blues have brought in no less than 10 new players since the start of the campaign. While Estevao and (potentially) Jorrel Hato could have long-term futures at the club,  along with Pedro, the other 7 have flattered to deceive.

Jamie Gittens and Dario Essugo have been plagued by injurieswhile Alejandro Garnacho and Liam Delap have not performed well. Mamadou Sarr arrived in January, but he had a very difficult night during the 3-0 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last month, and he hasn’t been seen since.

Facundo Buonanotte arrived on loan from Brighton in the summer, only to leave within six months, while Kendry Paez is already on his second loan spell this season, having failed to perform at Strasbourg. He is currently at River Plate.
