Cole Palmer failed to score again on Monday afternoon as Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest.

Palmer and Co have now lost six consecutive games in the Premier League, though it could have been a different story had the attacking midfielder managed to convert his penalty.

Palmer does not deserve all the blame, but the 23-year-old and at least two of his teammates should now be in a fight for their starting places.

Thiago Silva is all of us right now…

What’s the first thing that needs to change at Stamford Bridge?

Cole Palmer

In his last eight Premier League games for Chelsea, Palmer has only managed to score one goal, which came all the way back in March.

The assists have also dried up, while it feels like the Englishman is being dispossessed far too often after initially beating a defender or two.

With all of that being said, Palmer is still Chelsea’s best player. If you are Calum McFarlane, you probably cannot drop him, but if the England international did find himself on the bench, he could not have too many complaints.

Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella had a torrid time against Forest, while his form for a while now has not been up to scratch.

In contrast, Jorrel Hato has impressed in most of the games he has played in since the start of 2026. If Cucurella does not improve, the Dutchman could end up taking his spot in the team, and it would be deserved.

Malo want

On the opposite flank to Cucurella, Malo Gusto has also been very inconsistent lately.

Under Enzo Maresca this season, he was probably one of Chelsea’s best players and even started to score goals! However, his defending has been very questionable in recent games, with the Frenchman giving away a penalty against Forest.

Gusto, Cucurella and Palmer are all big players for Chelsea, and it is so late in the season. Fans should not expect too much change at this stage, but there are so many members of Chelsea’s squad who do not deserve to be starting right now.
