Chelsea fans have been chanting bad things about their ownership for a while now, but instead of moving things in the right direction, the subject of those chants keep making further missteps.
We’ve all seen the product of their work on the pitch – it’s the team that’s lost six Premier League games in a row.
But off the pitch, they are terrible at the PR side of things too. Nizaar Kinsella’s piece for the BBC today about the fan rejection of BlueCo notes one of their latest clangers.
Chelsea sporting directors invite rival manager to watch game from their box
“Hosting Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi in Chelsea’s directors’ box on Monday, ostensibly to scout his future opponents, went down poorly with sections of the fanbase.”
We allowed the manager of our biggest rivals, a team we’re playing in a couple of weeks, to sit in our directors’ box. And our sporting directors were there chatting away to him.
We’re sure they all speak behind the scenes – but to do it publicly when the team are doing this badly is just a monstrously stupid own goal.
In other news…
Wesley Fofana is not very popular at Chelsea right now, and his representatives have been offering him to big clubs around Europe.
Joao Pedro is also a target for Barcelona, and the Catalan giants have already met with the player’s representatives.
