Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has offered a damning assessment of Cole Palmer’s recent form, suggesting that the playmaker’s sluggish performances are not the result of lingering injuries.

Cole Palmer’s recent form has become a major point of contention at Stamford Bridge, with his once-prolific output suffering a dramatic decline.

After a spectacular start to his Chelsea career, where he combined for an incredible 58 goal contributions in his first 66 games, his production has plummeted.

While interim manager Calum McFarlane continues to defend Palmer, citing a stop-start season hampered by injuries, critics argue that the issue is more profound.

Many now believe Palmer is struggling to cope with the chaotic atmosphere at the club, leaving one of the Premier League’s most talented players looking like a shadow of his former self.

John Obi Mikel thinks Cole Palmer is struggling with the direction of Chelsea right now

Speaking on the Obi One podcast, John Obi Mikel is struggling to defend Cole Palmer, stating that he thinks there’s a dislike to the way the club is heading.

“I love Cole Palmer. I’ve said it so many times.

“You know, he’s a brilliant player, fantastic player. The potential that he has, the quality that he has. We know, we’ve seen him do it.

“But lately, he looks lost. He looks lost on the pitch. He looks like he looks so disinterested.

“With what is happening on the pitch. It’s not the same Cole Palmer. We know he struggled with injuries. We know that.

It just makes sense.

“But, you know, it’s been a long time since he’s come back now. He’s been playing a lot of games. So you can’t say he’s injured.

“You can’t say it’s because of the injuries. I just think he doesn’t like what is happening at the football club.”
