The good news is that the youngster seems to be ok after the vicious clash of heads. He’ll need a few days off, but should be playing again soon. The real question now is what to do with him next season.
Derry loan to Coventry makes sense for both sides
While he impressed on his debut, the club are going to have a lot of wing options available to them next season. Geovany Quenda is coming in, Jamie Gittens will be back fit too. Derry will be pretty low on the first team pecking order. That’s why a loan sounds so tempting, and Frank Lampard’s promoted Coventry team have been mentioned.
The Sky Blues would get a really promising attacking option to strengthen their squad in the Premier League for almost no cost. Chelsea would see one of their top talents developing under a manager they trust.
