Arsenal fans send direct Enzo Fernandez message
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a blockbuster €150 million bid to prise Enzo Fernández away from Chelsea this summer — but many Gunners supporters have taken to social media to deliver a clear and direct message to the board: “Don’t sign him.”
While Enzo’s name carries global recognition after his World Cup-winning exploits, Arsenal fans online have expressed widespread concern over the reported fee, the player’s recent form, and the belief that the club should prioritise strengthening other areas of the squad.
The reaction was immediate and intense across X, Reddit, and ARSENAL fan forums, with posts, memes, and long discussion threads urging the club to walk away from the proposed deal.
“€150m for Enzo? Absolutely not. This is not the signing we need. Please be serious, Arsenal.” one fan said
Another added: “We’ve worked so hard to build a smart recruitment strategy. Breaking the bank for Enzo would be the complete opposite of that. Arteta… don’t do it. We need a forward, not a midfielder who hasn’t performed at Chelsea.”
One fan posted: “Love the ambition, but signing Enzo Fernández is not the answer. Save that money for the right player. “This feels like Mudryk 2.0. Arsenal MUST avoid this.”
Many Gunners supporters argued that Enzo — while talented — has yet to justify the enormous fee Chelsea paid for him in January 2023. Some questioned whether he fits Mikel Arteta’s tactical demands, while others expressed worry that the club could overextend financially on a player who may not offer immediate impact.
On Reddit’s r/Gunners, several highly upvoted comments criticised the valuation itself: “€150m for a player Chelsea fans aren’t even convinced about? We’d be paying the ‘Chelsea tax’ for no reason.”
“This is not Rice. This is not Ødegaard. This would be a panic buy and a massive risk.”
Others pointed out the optics of helping a direct London rival balance their Financial Fair Play concerns. One fan wrote: “Chelsea need to sell. That doesn’t mean we should be the ones bailing them out.”
Another major thread focused on positional needs, with supporters noting that striker and full-back remain the club’s biggest priorities this summer: “If we spend €150m, it has to be on a world-class No.9. Not another midfielder.”
Despite the backlash, some fans did temper the criticism by acknowledging Fernández’s technical quality and potential. But even those voices insisted the price tag is impossible to justify:
“Good player, wrong price. If it were €60–70m, fine. But at €150m? No chance.”
For now, the overwhelming tone from the ARSENAL fanbase is unmistakable: they do not want the club to pursue Enzo Fernández at such a staggering cost.
With the summer window approaching and Arsenal expected to make major moves, the board now finds itself facing both a strategic decision — and a loud, unified message from its own supporters
