What Chelsea star Estevao has been doing this week to get fit for the World Cup
Just 16 minutes into Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat against Manchester United last month, Estevao was taken off. Another hamstring injury left Brazil’s new star worrying about his World Cup ticket.
It is the latest in a run of muscle injuries picked up by the teenager, largely billed as the next best thing to come out of Brazilian football since Neymar. Estevao was in tears in the dressing room after coming off.

Not just due to the pain of the injury, or the frustration of more time on the sidelines. But because his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad is now in jeopardy. There has been talk of a disagreement, as well.
Some sources say Chelsea would rather Estevao went under the knife, but the winger is keen to explore more conservative recovery methods so he stays available for the World Cup with Brazil this summer.
Estevao back at Palmeiras, undergoing treatment for his injury
Now, South American journalist Edu Bargos has reported that Estevao is back in his home country with his boyhood club, Palmeiras. The Chelsea winger is working with his old club to get back to full fitness.

Instead of undergoing rehabilitation at Chelsea, Estevao is in Brazil with Palmeiras to get fit again in time for the World Cup. The World Cup begins in just over a month when Mexico face South Africa on June 11.
Choosing not to go under the knife and spend the entire summer on the sidelines, Estevao has chosen to undergo rehab in order to remain fit for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He is pictured alongside Palmeiras’ staff.
Bargos posted on X: “Estêvão has been in Brazil since the beginning of the week to receive treatment for his injury with Palmeiras. He is undergoing conservative treatment to avoid going under the knife and to keep his options open for the World Cup. The CBF will wait for him until the last minute.”
What Carlo Ancelotti and son Davide have said about Estevao
Having scored five goals in 11 caps for Brazil, the hype surrounding Chelsea star Estevao is palpable. Brazil are one of the favourites to win the tournament, especially as it is being hosted across the pond.

Estevao will be picked by Brazil if he can remain fit. Reports say that if Estevao is fit and ready to play, then he will be a certainty for the squad, with former Chelsea boss Ancelotti tasked with securing glory.
His son, Davide, is on the Brazil coaching staff after losing his job at Botafogo. Recently, Davide picked Estevao as his one to watch: “if I have to give you a name, Estevao is one of the rising talents of Brazil.”
Now, it is on Estevao to get fit again and perhaps play a part in Chelsea’s remaining four games before the end of the season to prove to Brazil that he can play a part at the World Cup.
