Daphne and Anneke up for WSL Save of the Season | News
Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe have been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League Save of the Season award.
Our Dutch goalkeeper won the division’s Save of the Month award in October with a fine stop to deny Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carla Camacho. She showed quick reflexes, reacting to her header and pushing it past the post and helping us retain a 1-0 lead.
Anneke was January’s Save of the Month winner with an outstanding reaction save against Fridolina Rolfo’s powerful header from close range. We would go on to draw 0-0 with Manchester United and earn a clean sheet.
In March, Daphne won the Save of the Month award again with a sensational stop in the north London derby. She produced a stunning, backtracking save to deny Bethany England during a 5-2 victory over our local rivals at Emirates Stadium, clawing the header away from a certain goal.
For this award, Daphne and Anneke are going up against the other Save of the Month winners – Janina Leitzi (Leicester City), Ayaka Yamashita (Manchester City), and Elena Lete (London City Lionesses).
