£17m Axel Disasi replacement doesn’t sound keen on West Ham move: Jan Ziolkowski explains why
With doubts over the future of both Axel Disasi and Konstantinos Mavropanos, West Ham United have reportedly turned to Roma defender Jan Ziolkowski as a summer target.
The Poland international was linked with the Hammers this week by Il Romanista. A publication which, as you might imagine given their name, has their finger on the pulse regarding the latest developments at the Stadio Olimpico.
The report adds that West Ham United are the ‘foremost’ club in pursuit of Ziolkowski at this stage. Roma would allegedly consider offers of around £17 million.

However, while the Gialorossi seemingly like the idea of making a quick profit on a youngster they bought from Legia Warsaw for £5 million last August, Ziolkowski himself does not sound like a man in a rush to leave so soon.
Jan Ziolkowski in no rush to leave Roma for West Ham United
The 20-year-old has only started five Serie A matches this season.
Speaking to the official YouTube channel of the Polish national team a few weeks ago, however, Ziolkowski confirmed that his priority is to nail down a spot in the Roma defence.

“If I weren’t ambitious, knowing I could afford a great career, I wouldn’t have moved (to Italy),” he said, determined to seize his chance when it comes but also understanding the difficulty ousting Gianluca Mancini and Evan Ndicka from the XI.
“The club is fantastic and the fans are top-notch. This is my first season here. Let’s see what happens. I’ve already shown in a few games that I can play at this level and do well, even against opponents like Juventus and Inter.
“I know I can sit on the bench sometimes but, sooner or later, you get your chance, like when Ndicka left for the Africa Cup of Nations. I know myself and I know what I’m capable of.”
Ndicka has been heavily linked with a move away from Roma. If such a departure does occur, Ziolkowski will probably be the man chosen to take his place.
Axel Disasi could leave but Dinos Mavropanos rumours cool
What should West Ham do if they cannot keep Axel Disasi? 🤔
Paris FC’s Moustapa Mbow looks a solid replacement…
Opportunities have been hard to find under Gian Piero Gasperini so far. But, as former advisor Claudio Ranieri explained, Gasperini ‘approved’ Ziolkowski’s signing last summer.
Roma may be tempted by offers of £17 million, but neither Gasperini nor Ziolkowski appear particularly keen on a summer exit.
Back at West Ham, Hammers News can confirm that alternatives to Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi are being sounded out. The Frenchman has been a ‘revelation’ in East London but, at the age of 28, West Ham might decide against paying the sort of fees Chelsea would demand.
Moustapha Mbow of Paris FC is reportedly an option, while Charlie Cresswell will leave Toulouse in the coming months.
West Ham received a timely Mavropanos-themed boost this week. Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Joane Gadou from Red Bull Salzburg amid reported interest in the former Stuttgart giant.
