Chelsea’s sporting directors report to co-owner Behdad Eghbali who has the final say on transfers according to reports.

The Blues have struggled since the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, and are on the cusp of missing out on the Champions League for the third time in the last four seasons.

Chelsea are languishing in ninth with just three games remaining, and are currently on a run of six consecutive league defeats.

The Blues have completely changed their transfer strategy, and operate a heavily youth focused transfer policy, which they’ve been criticised for.

Chelsea mainly sign young players on long term deals, and have tended to stay away from signing proven players and established stars.

The ownership aren’t popular with the fan base, and the sporting directors have come under severe pressure for a series of failures in the transfer market and with managerial appointments.

Chelsea operate a unique structure where they have five sporting directors, and The Telegraph have reported they report directly to Eghbali who has the final say on transfers.

The report adds Eghbali is described as a tough but fair negotiator, whilst the recruitment staff are highly regarded within the industry.
